Plan Of Media In The Online Age Question...

In the last few years, what have been the most significant developments in how individuals use the internet?

Introduction:
- Internet in the past, internet was used for business reasons, for example sharing business ideas, emailing clients etc.
- Discuss how it has changed over the years, for example becoming more socialized and entertainment reasons.

Paragraph One:
- Google is the main website that has been set up over the past few years. It gives people endless opportunities and there is a huge variety of reasons to use Google. For example, business, socializing, shopping, directions, translations, booking tickets, and the list goes on.
- A worldwide search engine that is used on a daily basis, and when people say 'Google it' everyone knows what you mean.
- Google has developed over the last fews years, it's now google translate, google maps, g-mail etc, therefore there is no need for individuals to use another search engine.
- People have become lazy when it comes to research etc. Instead of going to the library and reading books, people will just google it.

Paragraph Two:
- Youtube is also a massive development.

Plan

Plan for example question to online age.
- What impact has the internet had on media production, distribution and exhibition?

Intro = Write briefly about the past and explain how the internet wasn't as easily accessible as it is now.

Contemporary = Present day information. Which media's we are using, TV and Film.

Media production definition, examples (snakes on a plane), theorists (Jeff Howe - crowd sourcing - people's opinions are taken into account AND Henry Jenkins - participatory culture we all produce media) and analysis (what this impacts on the audience etc.) on the impact to modern day life.

Media distribution definition, examples (misfits and little miss sunshine), theorists (globalisation definition- how it relates through distributing worldwide) and analysis (good and bad ways of how internet impacts these things. Good- advertising and more profit making it more popular and Bad- illegal downloads relating to exhibition) Furthermore..

Media exhibition definition, examples (films and tv programmes are available to download illegally spoiling the concept of the cinema and new films - vimeo spoils the profits that could be made because you watch for free however its convenient to viewers) theorists (Chris Anderson - long tail theory) Analysis (the impact the internet has on modern media)

Conclusion = Make a predication for the future impact of the internet on modern day. e.g. all Tv programmes and film will be made quicker and illegal downloads figures will be increased.

P3-72 Thriller Post Production Analysis

Analyse your post production choices in your thriller.
We created a soundtrack to tailor our Thriller. we did research on other thriller's soundtracks such as the exorcist and tried to make one similar to it. This effect meant that our video gave off a more overall creepy feeling and helped to build tension which allowed us to follow conventions.
We did a flashback to the killings and then ack to reality to seem like he was drreaming.

Post Production

Post production on our thriller - Fiona.
After filming our thriller, we ensured we had enough time to do all of our editing and sound work. Our editing wasn't too difficult as we used to small variety of locations including Eloise's house. All our footage went smoothly and the scenes all flowed in chronological order therefore the editing was simpler for us. The soundtracks were the hardest as we had to make sure the visuals fit the sound.
The main skill we used in post production was editing however we didn't include a large majority of transitions including fades. We also didn't use things like colour correctors or speed changes.
We analyzed our feedback given from our rough cut therefore we changed it to make it better from this information. This information made us change things like scene lengths and dialogue lengths.

Post production on our thriller - Briarly.
Our thriller included a variety of post production decisions such as editing, transitions, titles, etc.
These decisions had different impacts on our thriller. Editing our footage to pick out the best shots and framing of footage meant we could improve our video from our rough cut.

Post Production skills - How have they developed over time?

Group P1 - 04

Which post production decisions can you tell the group have made?
The group have only made a few post production decisions that are obvious to me as the viewer.
The frame rate is increased a number of times throughout their video this is a post production decision which involves using final cut. The second noticeable decision is the 'LA LA LA' that comes onto the screen in colourful writing. The last decision I noticed was the split screen shots and the jump cut shots at the end of the video.

What impacts do these have on the product?
All of these decisions have added to how interesting the video is. The variation from the norm makes it something you can actually watch the whole way through. The 'LA LA LA' effect matches visuals and lyrics which is proven by goodwin to attract the audience. The speeding up the rate of the video creates a comic feel to the video. The split screen effect make it interesting

Which post productions skills do the group still need to develop?
The group could have done the jump cut better, however this may be due to how they filmed it on the set and not how they edited it on final cut.

What do you think they have done more successfully then you did in your work?
This group has managed to create a more exciting video then ours however this may be due to the song they had to work with (it is more exciting and faster then ours)

Look at their ancillary tasks what should they add or improve?
Both the poster and dvd cover that the group did are packed full of info and both look very interesting and eye catching however they have missed out a price.

Thriller Post Production

The post Production decisions that we made were:
- Sound track
- Colour filter
- Transitions
- POV shot from rifle
- slow me/sped up footage
- titles/credits
- foley sound (gunshot, dubbing)

What impact did these have on the product?
The soundtrack made the video more mysterious
The colour filters added a sense of danger cause equals danger in film language
The cuts made the sequence more intense
The POV shot was used as an establishing shot of the target

P1-01 Analysis...

1) From watching the video, we can tell that the group made these post production decisions:
- split screen
- reverse effect
- colour corrector
- transitions/slide
- added text on to the screen
- fast forward effect
- had to plan an order and arrange the shots

2) The post production decisions that the group made definitely benefited the overall product. The effects they chose for instance the fast forwarded and the split screen sections suited the genre well and made the video exciting to watch. They had a positive impact on the product as they kept it interesting and appealed to the target audience.

3) A post production skill that we think the group need to develop is the use of colour corrector. In some parts of the video the colour worked really well however there were quite a few places where there were stripes across the screen that changed from colour to black and white. This was not obvious enough to be effective, it looked like there had been a problem with the editing rather than an intended effect.

4) We would say that this group are more skilled on final cut and are not afraid to use a variety of editing effects.  They used more transitions and split screens than we did which worked really well for the genre of the song.

5) After looking at the group's ancillary products we decided that the font on the digipak is not legible enough and the chosen font is not very professional looking. We think to improve the digipak they could make the text a colour that is less bright and a font that is more attractive. We liked their poster however the photograph is out of focus and to make it look more professional they could use a clearer photograph.
